Festival Of Carols
Come and listen to beautiful carols sung by the St. Ignatius Choir and Orchestra, Lithuanian, Polish and Ukrainian choirs, as well be surrounded by the melodious sounds of the bandura, performed by the Chicago Bandura Ensemble. Each country has its own rich musical heritage, and hearing carols from different regions can be a gratifying way to appreciate the varied expressions of joy and devotion associated with the holiday season.
Carols convey a universal sense of wonder and awe, celebrating the birth of Christ in different cultural contexts. The power of music to transcend language and convey the spirit of the season is truly special. Enjoy the beauty of the carols and the cultural tapestry they represent! Proceeds will go to UMANA, Illinois for medical equipment to Ukraine
Tickets are $20 and will be available on Eventbrite and at the door the day of the concert.

As Russia’s barbaric war enters its second year, and despite tremendous loss of life, infrastructure, as well as eradication of culture, the Ukrainian nation continues to show an indomitable spirit of resistance, courage and resilience. Ukraine is truly fighting this war for all Western nations.
The Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art stands in solidarity with Ukraine by promoting our national heritage and culture. This sends a powerful message and refutes Russian disinformation that seeks to deny Ukraine’s unique culture and sovereignty.
As a significant cultural landmark in Chicago’s Ukrainian Village, we are reaching out to you foryour generous support of UIMA and its programs. Please join us at our annual gala fundraiser, The Art of Resilience, on November 11, 2023. We will host an exceptionally riveting program, cocktails, dinner, and an online auction, including musical performances by Flautist Anastasia Squires and pianist Stephen Squires, Liza Romanyuk, and Ukrainian-American artist and educator Yulia Gasio, keynote speaker.
Please consider supporting UIMA's efforts by coming to our event, or making a donation, so that we can continue guarding and preserving Ukrainian culture and heritage.

Gravity Artist Talk with Tom Torluemke
CHICAGO, IL–The Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art is thrilled to announce our artist talk with Tom Torluemke. His solo exhibition Gravity, features paintings of landscapes and portraits and began this body of work in 2021 when he pursued landscapes as a focused theme, approaching it with more seriousness as our environment becomes more impacted by climate change year after year. To get some relief from the environment as subject matter and the isolation of the pandemic, Torluemke also began a series of portraits of friends and family, which revealed a connected between the two bodies of work: as the natural environment and social and civic unrest become more contentious, how can people help each other and the environment?
Artist Talk will begin at 1pm.
